The Wilbur's Bridge / Pig Farm Bank Stabilization Project utilized natural channel design techniques to stabilize two sections of severely eroding streambank, both up and downstream from Wilbur's Bridge in Manchester, VT. The project involved the installation of tree revetments and root wads to stabilize the eroding streambanks, prevent further sediment deposition into the Batten Kill and create natural fish habitat.
This project was the result of a copperative effort of the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's 'Partner's for Wildlife' Program, Natural Resources Conservation Service, the VT Department of Fish & Wildlife, the Southwestern Vermont Chapter of Trout Unlimited, The Orvis Company, Burgess Brothers of Bennington, Central Vermont Public Service Corporation, participating landowners, and the Bennington County Conservation District.
